It is safe to say that mathematics has never been the most popular subject back at school. While students have come up with many excuses over the years, the lack of tangible, practical use of this mathematical knowledge is definitely a legitimate reason for disliking maths.
At the halfway point in the season, it’s fair to say that not all of the football pundits’ predictions have come true as far as rookies are concerned. Here, however, are a few young quarterbacks that are living up to their potential and could have some relevance for fantasy sport in the future.
Carson Wentz (Philadelphia Eagles)
ALBANY, N.Y.— (Associated Press) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into law Wednesday to allow the resumption of daily fantasy sports in New York.
The measure calls the popular online contests a “game of skill.” That legal definition resolves the central argument in a lawsuit brought against the country’s two top fantasy-sports companies by the state attorney general. He had likened the online matches to illegal gambling operations based on chance.
London – Oulala.com, the daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator and B2B provider, will unveil its monetised platform for Australasia and the Indian subcontinent at the beginning of the new football season.
The latest expansion of the European daily fantasy football site is a white label agreement between OulalaGames and Cardinal House Group, the Australian registered B2B and B2C provider of online social gaming products and real money gambling platforms.
Michael Conforto is now hitting .455 since being called back up to the majors.
The Mets outfielder is priced at $3600 at DraftKings. He’s been hovering between $3100 and $4300.
Conforto was starting in center field for the first time in his Major League career Sunday, making his debut the day prior.
Max Scherzer (10-6) came away with a no-decision Sunday, despite allowing just one run on six hits and a walk over seven innings, while striking out seven in an 18-inning loss to the Pirates.
Scherzer off a no-decision needs some serious consideration Saturday July 23 as the right-hander is ranked number two in ESPN.com’s Fantasy rankings.
It doesn’t hurt that he’ll be going up against the San Diego Padres, a team he has allowed just 15 hits off of in 114 at bats (this against the current Padres roster).
On Wednesday, we have The Marlins Wei-Yin Chen (5-3) as the probable starter. He allowed four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings, but received no decision Friday at the Cardinals. Philadelphia’s starters have hit 19 in 62 at bats with two home runs.
But who we really like here and someone probably off the radar is the Phillies Jeremy Hellickson, especially with the Phillies playing better than .500 ball over the past month.
The DraftKings $3M Fantasy Golf Millionaire contest for The Open 2016 was about to wind down for entrants by just after Midnight Thursday morning.
It features up to 150 lineups for only $33 each for a shot to win the $1M top prize on July 14th.
DFS911.com has your Wade Miley Daily Fantasy Sports profile for Saturday July 9.
Miley got better results than he has recently in his last start but the Mariners have lost in his last three starts.
Miley will come into this game hungry for a win and Kansas City offers the perfect remedy.
The current Royals roster has batted 71 times against Miley with just 15 hits and a single extra base run (a homer) to show for it.
Kansas City has scored three or fewer runs in six of the last ten games overall.

In general the lineups for both Detroit and Toronto should be considered throughout the four-game series July 7 to 10. That’s because the OVER was 16-5-1 in the last 22 meetings entering Thursday.
Toronto had scored five or more runs in seven of their last ten games. Detroit has done so in six of their last ten games. Do the math and, while we feel the Game Two total is a little high at 10, it’s still worth taking.
Taijun Walker has allowed 33 hits off of 122 at bats versus the current Astros roster. This includes 9 home runs and 17 extra base hits. Walker is also coming off two starts in which he permitted just a single run in over 11 innings.
In six of his last ten starts, Walker has permitted four or more runs.
These are your heavy hitters
Jose Altuve - 8-for-23 with a homer. He’s batting .400 over the past seven days and went two for four on Monday.
Evan Gattis - 5-for-15 with two home runs. He is averaging .235 over the past week.
Yes it’s true that the New York Mets are 2-6 in Matt Harvey’s last 8 starts vs. Miami. It’s also true that Harvey is averaging .169 against this Marlins roster, allowing just 21 hits on 124 at bats with only one home run over this period.
He’s a -150 favorite at BetOnline, making this a decent play to bet on there. The price does get steeper elsewhere at -160.
For your DFS roster on Sunday be sure to consider Hisashi Iwakuma, who has allowed a mere 10 hits off of 67 at bats versus the current Baltimore roster, most of whom are currently in a funk.
Iwakuma (7-6) gave up two runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts over 6.2 innings in a win Tuesday over the Pirates. (Tue Jun 28)
Iwakuma didn't allow a home run Tuesday night -- he had allowed 17 in his first 15 starts of the season. He has allowed two against this current Orioles roster.
He should be priced around $6800.

Shelby Miller of the Arizona Diamondbacks appears to be an excellent option Friday versus the San Francisco Giants when it comes to your Daily Fantasy Major League Baseball roster.
The value is fantastic at $7000. Miller (2-7, 6.79) has managed to allow a mere 15 hits off of 81 at bats versus this current Giants lineup with a single home run during this span.
Chris Young (2-7) allowed seven runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings to take the loss Saturday against the Astros.
And here he is facing the St. Louis Cardinals, a team whose roster has managed to hit 22 of 76 at bats against him with 5 home runs.
The primary culprits: Matt Holliday is one. He’s hit 7 of 24 against him with four extra base hits and is averaging .292 over the past seven days coming into this game.
Holliday homered, a two-run shot, in a 2-for-4 game in Monday's loss to Kansas City.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Associated Press) - The Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed legislation Tuesday to expand legalized casino-style gambling to websites, airports and mobile applications. The measure passed, 114-85, and was sent to the Senate. Here is a look at the highlights:
The OVER in this series is 14-6-1 in the last 21 played in Chicago and oddsmakers had the total set at 9.5, perhaps with good reason.
White Sox probable starter James Shields has permitted 45 hits off of 137 at bats versus the current Twins roster, including 15 extra base hits and 5 home runs.
Minnesota’s Ricky Nolasco has allowed 40 hits on 107 at bats versus the current White Sox roster.
Arizona is not a terrible team this season (36-42) and Zack Greinke is pitching quite well ((10-3, 3.61), especially on a team that is below the .500 mark.
Greinke is so good that the Diamondbacks are a -220 home favorite against Philadelphia Tuesday with a total of 8.
He’s priced anywhere from $10K to $11K at either DraftKings or FanDuel.
Jake Arrieta is certainly a starting pitcher to consider for Monday’s play against Cincinnati despite the high price tag of $12800 (which is down $700 from June 11).
The Cubs and Arrieta are a huge -250 favorite, and that’s on the road against the struggling Reds.
Two strong factors come into play here.
First, an ace coming off a loss always deserves consideration, especially when facing a poor team like the Reds.
LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) — A new gambling platform approved by Nevada regulators Thursday will further blur the lines between traditional sports betting and fantasy sports contests, an industry that insists its games are not gambling in the face of legal challenges across the country.
The Nevada Gaming Commission gave a gambling license to Henderson-based US Fantasy, calling it a fair model as daily fantasy sports businesses such as DraftKings and FanDuel stand accused in several states of operating as illegal, unregulated betting systems.
Gambling911.com has noted that significant scoring is expected this weekend between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies with oddsmakers posting totals of 11 to 12 on the Friday and Saturday games and 12 to 12.5 on the Sunday game. The last two games of this four-game series have gone well into the double digits.
DraftKings players have until Monday June 27, 2016 to enter the DraftKings Euros $10K Striker contest for a chance to win $1500 (the grand prize).
This 3921-player contest features $10,000.00 in total prizes and pays out the top 781 finishing positions. First place wins $1,500.00, second place $750 and third place $500.
DraftKings, the world’s second biggest Daily Fantasy Sports site, has recently begun to focus more heavily on the explosive fantasy soccer market, primarily in Europe.

Illinois lawmakers are considering a bill that would legalize and tax online Fantasy Sports betting.
An Illinois House Committee has approved a bill which would allow websites like FanDuel and DraftKings to legally operate despite objections of the Illinois Gaming board, the gambling industry, and some state lawmakers.
The measure would ban company employees as well as those under the age of 21 from playing Daily Fantasy Sports games for real cash.
Not everybody was on board with the legislation.
It is a well known fact that since the explosion of the internet in the early years of the twenty first century, online casinos have become ever more popular pastimes for millions of people around the world.
